Range - found in southern and southwest South Africa and in the coastal region of southern Namibia.

Natural History - these tortoises live in varying climates: from a mediterranean coastal environment to an arid, desert climate in southern Namibia. They like sandy areas with dry vegetation. The diet includes dry grasses and succulents, as well as snails and rabbit droppings.
