Range - extends from southern Namibia to northwestern South Africa; occurs in abundance near Springbok.
Natural History - lives only in rocky places and is referred to as “little rock tortoise” in Afrikaans. It lives on dry hillsides in arid places up to an altitude of 1,000 m, often not far from the sea. This is a very agile tortoise; it can hold on to rocks with both its feet and its beak.
