Recent Hatchlings
The summer is winding down at our southern California Conservation Center and we have had some incredibly unique species hatching. Our first Critically Endangered Roti Island Snake-neck Turtle (
Chelodina mccordi
) hatched from its tiny egg, one ninja star-like Spiny Turtle (
Heosemys spinosa
) unfurled from an oblong egg, one Critically Endangered Pancake Tortoise (
Malacochersus tornieri
) unfolded itself from its egg, 2 Endangered Forsten's Tortoises (
Indotestudo forstenii
) emerged, and 9 beautiful Mexican Painted Wood Turtles (
Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima
) hatched, another first for the Turtle Conservancy!
